This rare and authentic 1966 US Air Force cold weather system consists of two separate military garments issued as an original set to provide a complete 2-in-1 tactical solution. Manufactured by Broxton Garment Co. on July 7, 1966, under spec MIL-J-4883C (USAF), the wind-resistant outer field coat is crafted from OG-107 olive drab cotton sateen and features an integral roll-up hood concealed in the collar, front utility flap pockets, waist drawstrings, heavy-duty aluminum zippers, and button attachments. Paired with its button-in MIL-L-4889C wool-pile frieze undercoat liner manufactured by Centre Mfg. Co. Inc. on March 12, 1964 (composed of 60% wool and 40% cotton frieze), this secondary insulating layer can be removed and worn independently. Based on military tag specifications, the sizing is estimated accordingly, with the outer jacket tagged as Medium Long (fitting chest sizes 37 to 41 inches and heights 71 inches and up) and the liner tagged as Medium Short (fitting chest sizes 37 to 41 inches and heights up to 67 inches). Measuring 31 inches in length from shoulder seam to hem, 23 inches across the chest from armpit to armpit, and 24 inches in sleeve length, this matched pair offers a historically accurate piece of 1960s USAF history that shows light natural wear and sells as pre-owned vintage items that sells as is.
