Vintage Japanese Dragonware Lithophane Teacup and Saucer Raised Moriage Dragon

This is a striking example of vintage Japanese Dragonware porcelain, featuring a sophisticated color palette of smokey grey, white, and pops of blue. The set is decorated using the traditional Moriage technique, which creates a hand-applied, raised 3D texture for the dragon that wraps around both the cup and the saucer.

The cup stands 2-1/4 inches tall and the matching saucer measures 5-1/2 inches across. A captivating "hidden" Geisha lithophane is molded into the bottom of the cup, becoming visible only when the piece is held up to a light source. This set is a fantastic example of mid-century Japanese artistry and makes for a unique display piece or conversation starter.

This is a pre-owned vintage item with gentle time wear. There is some light wear on the gold-toned handle, but the set remains in beautiful condition.
